BUGS BUNNY Toot-a-Tune
Among the rarest items in my collection is this 1940s (or at the latest, early
1950s) plastic figural flute of Bugs Bunny. It was named the Bugs Bunny
Toot-a-Tune by U.S. Plastic Company when it made this toy. It features a
9.25" plastic Bugs Bunny with curled vinyl ears, a white shirt collar, a
black bowtie, and a white suit coat standing with his arms by his sides.
In back of his head, there is a spout that serves as the Toot-a-Tune's
mouthpiece. On front, all of Bugs' coat buttons are hollowed-out holes
that can be covered in the same manner that a flute can be played, so as to
change the tone of the notes played. The item itself is in NM+ condition.
It comes with 90% of its original box, which has great graphics on all four
sides.

BUGS BUNNY figural soap
This is a 4.5" figural bath soap showing Bugs Bunny happily standing
with his arms folded across his chest. He is light blue in color and comes
with his original box. The soap is in near mint condition and it has never
been used. The box has some water damage but is intact and in EX-
condition overall. This item was manufactured in 1975 by Schmid
Laboratories as part of a larger collection of Looney Tunes character sculptured
soaps.

BUGS BUNNY Sit'n'Go toy
This is a 3.5" tall by 4.75" long plastic sea plane bathtub toy
entitled Bugs Bunny Sit'n'Go by the manufacturer, Azrak Hamway International,
when the toy was made in 1977. The toy consists of a reddish-orange plane
with yellow propeller and blue ski runners for making water landings.
There is a paper decal on the side of the plane bearing Bugs Bunny's image, and
another on the front of the box. This item is in NM+ condition and it has
never been used or removed from its original box. Originally, Bugs cost
$2.99 at Pat's Save.

BUGS BUNNY AM radio
This is a 5.5" plastic radio showing Bugs Bunny from the middle of the
chest upward, holding a carrot near his right cheek. This is a
battery-operated AM radio that works just fine, and it retains its original
vinyl carry strap. Bugs is in NM+ condition and he comes with his original
box. The box has some darkened areas, but it is otherwise undamaged and
intact, with nice graphics on top. This item was manufactured by Sears in
1973.

BUGS BUNNY kiddy clothes rack
This very rare find is an 11.75" long pink plastic clothing rack for
children, featuring four pegs and four purple smiling head images of Bugs Bunny.
This item is in virtually perfect condition and, best and rarest of all, it
comes with its original box. The box is yellow in color and features a
drawing of the item and a running image of Bugs Bunny on front, and three images
of Bugs along with a drawing of a red-haired boy using his very own Kiddy
Clothes Rack on the back. This item was manufactured by Karl Guggenheim
Inc. sometime during the 1950s.

BUGS BUNNY gumball machine
This is a 9.5" plastic gumball machine showing Bugs Bunny's smiling
transparent face and hollowed-out grey ears perched atop a blue base. The
yellow knob in front can be turned to release the gumballs that can be placed
inside of Bugs. This item is in EX condition, missing its original
back-of-the-head stopper and having some residual masking tape on the back and
bottom. Bugs comes with his original highly-colorful box, which pictures
this item full of gumballs alongside a rainbow, a mod butterfly, a flowered
grassy hilly area, and Bugs Bunny holding a large pink gumball. The box
has edge wear and some flap tears, but is entirely intact, leaving it in VG-
condition. This item was made by Tarco in 1962.

BUGS BUNNY tricky rider
Another of the extremely rare pieces in my collection is this 1969 Kohner
Brothers tricky rider of Bugs Bunny, who is shown straddling a large red U.S.A.
rocket. His ears blow in the wind behind him and he has a look of glee on
his face. This item is in NM+ and unused condition and it comes with its
original insert and box. There is a pull ring on top of Bugs' head that,
when pulled and then released, enables him to scoot along any hard, flat
horizontal surface. The box has colorful graphics showing this item in
use. Originally, Bugs sold for $0.99 in Playtime Stores.

This is a 3.25" plastic cake topper showing Bugs Bunny standing atop a
lime green circle, holding a long gold baton. This item is in mint
condition and it originally came with Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety, and Porky
Pig counterparts. Bugs was manufactured by Wilton in 1978.

BUGS BUNNY jointed vinyl figure
This is a 10.75" jointed vinyl figure of Bugs Bunny, who has movable
arms and a swiveling head. He stands with his ears raised above his head,
smiling even though he is without a carrot. This item is in NM+ condition
and it comes with its original colorful cardboard hang tag. Bugs himself
has a 1990 copyright marking, although the set from which he came was released
in 1995 in the Warner Brothers Studio Stores.

BUGS BUNNY jointed vinyl figure
This is a 12" jointed vinyl figure of Bugs Bunny, who has a movable
head, movable arms, movable wrists, and movable hips. He holds a carrot in
his right hand, and has his left hand bent and extended outward from his body.
Bugs is in mint condition and he comes with his original cardboard hang tag.
He was made in 1997 for sale exclusively in the Warner Brothers Studio Stores
and originally sold for $8.00 along with a Marvin Martian counterpart.

BUGS BUNNY baseball figurine
This is a 7.25" bone china figurine showing Bugs Bunny as a baseball
pitcher perched atop a pitcher's mound. He wears a baseball cap and
jersey, and is preparing to pitch the ball. This item is ivory-colored
with gold trim. It is in mint condition and comes with its plain white
original box (not shown). Bugs was manufactured by Lenox in 2003.

BUGS BUNNY nodder
This is an 8.25" heavy-duty resin nodder of Bugs Bunny, who is shown
standing atop a black oval base bearing his name in pale orange raised-relief
lettering. His ears are curved forward and toward his right side, and he
holds his left arm akimbo on the hip. This item is in mint condition. It
was manufactured in 1994 as part of a set of Looney Tunes nodders, and
originally was sold in the Warner Brothers Studio Stores.

BUGS BUNNY wooden pull toy
This rare find is a 9" wooden pull toy showing an armless Bugs Bunny
walking along, smiling as he looks over his left shoulder. This item has
matching paper litho decals on both sides and all four of its original red
wooden wheels. It was manufactured during the mid-1940s by Brice.
Bugs is in EX to EX+ condition, with a few blemishes in the paper litho being
his only flaws.

BUGS BUNNY wall clock
This is a 9.75" plastic wall clock showing Bugs Bunny standing with
his legs crossed, a carrot in his right hand, and his left arm raised holding
the clock's numeral 1. This is an electrical clock that works just fine.
It is in virtually perfect condition. Bugs was manufactured by Seth Thomas
in 1970.

BUGS BUNNY carrot sack cookie jar
This uncommon find is an 11.5" ceramic cookie jar showing Bugs Bunny
sitting back resting his weight on his hands, while he looks into the air.
He is perched atop an enormous tan sack of carrots that is marked Cookies
on front. This item is in mint condition. It was manufactured by
Gorham in 1981.

BUGS BUNNY Carmen Miranda cookie jar
This gaudy but fun item is a 12.5" ceramic cookie jar portraying Bugs Bunny
as Carmen Miranda, complete with bright red lipstick, a bright red necklace, and
a head/hat full of colorful fruit. The cookie jar is in mint condition.
It was manufactured in 1994, possibly by Certified International Corp.

BUGS BUNNY large bendy
This is a 9" rubber bendy showing Bugs Bunny holding a carrot in his
left hand. His arms and legs are bendable, as are his ears and torso to a
lesser extent. This item is in mint condition. It was manufactured in 1995
for distribution in the Warner Brothers Studio Stores. Originally, Bugs
was sold as part of a six-character set.

This is a 2.5" PVC figure showing Bugs Bunny popping out of his rabbit
hole. He holds his cheek in his right hand, looking upward deep in
thought. This item is in mint condition. It was manufactured by
Applause in 1994.

BUGS BUNNY Santa Claus ornament
This is a 3" PVC Christmas ornament showing Bugs Bunny dressed as
Santa Claus. He waves with his right hand while holding his left arm bent
akimbo on the hip. Bugs was manufactured along with Porky Pig (toy
soldier) and Tweety (in nightcap) counterparts. He was distributed by
Arby's fast food restaurants in 1989 as a promotional giveaway. Bugs is
undamaged and has only slight paint wear, leaving him in NM+ condition.

BUGS BUNNY wall plaque
This rare find is a 4.5" wide by 5.5" tall lacquered wooden wall
plaque showing an early version of Bugs Bunny standing and smiling, while
leaning slightly forward. The caption beneath his name says This funny
little rabbit is called Bugs Bunny. This item was manufactured during
the early 1940s as part of a set of wall plaques that also included Little Hoot,
Sniffles, The Bookworm, Porky Pig, Petunia Pig, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd.
This particular one of Bugs Bunny is undamaged and has slight surface wear,
leaving it in NM- condition.

BUGS BUNNY memo pad
This is a 4" wide by 6" tall paper memo pad shaped like a
serrated postage stamp. It is light blue in color and has an image of the
Bugs Bunny postage stamp in the lower left-hand corner and a leaning image of
Bugs Bunny saying What's up Doc? in the upper right-hand corner.
This item is in mint condition and it remains sealed inside of its original
packaging. It was manufactured in 1997 by Hallmark for the U.S. Postal
Service.

This is a 1.75" enameled metal collector's pin of Bugs Bunny, who is
shown lounging atop a blue square marked with the Warner Brothers shield.

This item is in mint condition and it remains sealed inside of its original
packaging. Bugs was manufactured in 1996 and his copyright information
does not indicate who made him.

BUGS BUNNY ring toss game
This rare find is one of those "Where did you find that?!" items in my
collection. It is a 19" cardboard ring toss game featuring a large
image of Bugs Bunny holding a carrot in the air in his right hand while he
casually rests against a tree trunk with his left arm. Behind him, Elmer
Fudd stalks with a rifle while Porky Pig tries to shush him. The game
comes with all three of its original rope tossable rings. This item is in
mint condition and it remains sealed inside of its original packaging. It
was manufactured by Harett-Gilmar, Inc. sometime during the 1950s and originally
cost $0.95, marked down from $1.00.

BUGS BUNNY Dixie cup dispenser
This is a 4.5" white plastic trapezoid-shaped Dixie cup dispenser
showing Bugs Bunny leaning against a wall with his left hand while he holds a
blue Dixie cup in his right hand. He wears red-and-white striped pajama
bottoms. This item is in mint, unused condition and it remains sealed
inside of its original box. Some of the cellophane has come off of the
covering and the box has dents on the sides, but the item itself is in perfect
condition. The item was manufactured in 1989.

BUGS BUNNY rollerskates
This is a pair of 7" plastic rollerskates shaped like Bugs Bunny from
the torso upward. He has a large buck-toothy grin and holds both ears
downward along the contours of his head. These rollerskates are in mint,
unused condition and they remain sealed inside of their original box. The
top of the box has colorful graphics showing Tweety and Bugs Bunny and the sides
of the box have images of the rollerskates themselves. The box is complete
and in VG condition, with some staining on the top edge, top flap, and
underside. This item was manufactured by Larami in 1981.

BUGS BUNNY card game
This is a 3.5" tall by 2.25" wide deck of playing cards for the
Bugs Bunny Card Game. The various cards have images of Pepe LePew, Granny,
Tweety, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and friends, and are "suited" with
carrots, bowties, hats, and pink flowers. The game is complete and is in
mint condition, and it comes in its original plastic carrying case. This
item was manufactured by Western Publishing Company in 1966.

BUGS BUNNY wonder whiskers
This is an 8.75" tall by 6" wide Bugs Bunny Wonder Whiskers
drawing set toy. It consists of a clear plastic blisterpack with an image
of Bugs Bunny's smiling profile (complete with blue bowtie, no less!), a small
pile of black metal shavings, and a blue magnetized wand. When the blue
wand is moved over the metal shavings, a small pile of them can be relocated
onto the image of Bugs to give him bushy eyebrows, a moustache, a beard, a black
eye, and so forth. This toy is in mint, unused condition and it remains
stashed on its original cardboard mounting card. The front of the mounting
card has several images of Bugs Bunny and the reverse side provides instructions
for use of the toy along with images of a few of the things that can be done
with it. This item was manufactured by Henry Gordy International in 1989.

This is a 6x4" pad of 125 sheets of Bugs Bunny paper, intended for use
as a memo pad. The pages are turquoise in color and they have an image of
Bugs Bunny in the upper left-hand corner, showing him leaning against an
imaginary wall with his right hand, legs crossed, chomping on a carrot, and
saying What's Up, Doc? This item is in mint, unused condition and
it remains sealed in its original cellophane shrinkwrap. It was
manufactured by Hallmark in 1986.

This is a 6.5x4.5" cardboard postcard showing Bugs Bunny leaning
against an invisible wall with his left arm. He holds a carrot in his bent
right hand and stands with his legs crossed, smiling happily. The backdrop
is white and Bugs' name is written in orange lettering. This item was
never used and is in NM+ condition. It was manufactured in 1994 by LMPC
Impressions as part of a larger collection of Looney Tunes character postcards.

BUGS BUNNY advertising poster
This is a 54x33" wall poster advertising discounted season's passes
for Six Flags over Mid-America. It shows Bugs Bunny standing with his
right arm bent akimbo on the hip, carrot in hand, while he holds a promotional
banner in his raised left hand. This item was manufactured for the 1985
amusement park season. It is in NM+ condition and has been professionally
framed.

BUGS BUNNY talking target game
This fun item is a biggie, measuring in at 31" in height. It shows a
thick cardboard Bugs Bunny dressed as a wild west sheriff, complete with a grey
hat, a grey vest with gold buttons and a gold sheriff's star, a red bandanna
with pink polka dots, a brown gun belt with brown holsters, and blue shorts.
Both holsters hold carrots. Bugs' hat needs to be positioned carefully
atop his head in order to appear as shown in the picture. The object of
the game is to hit his hat with one of the two white plastic balls that come
with the toy. When that is done, the hat falls off, Bugs raises his arms
in the air, his belt buckle releases his pants to his ankles, and Bugs says What's
Up Doc? This item was manufactured by Transogram in 1976 and it
remains in working condition. Best of all, Bugs comes with his original
box, which has graphics showing the toy and explaining its actions. Bugs
has some minor wear on the cardboard and some spotting along the lower edge of
his feet, but is in EX to EX+ condition overall.

BUGS BUNNY clothing rack
This is a 54" tall wooden clothing holder (mostly for shirts and hats)
showing Bugs Bunny standing with his arms bent akimbo on the hips, smiling on
the grass in front of his rabbit hole. There is a wooden sign sticking out
of the rabbit hole saying Hang It Up, Doc! Bugs has six pegs
on his ears and arms, and a protruding area in front of the rabbit hole where
shoes or socks can also be placed. This item was manufactured in 1991 by,
of all companies, Brach's (yes, the candy company). It is in NM+
condition.

BUGS BUNNY advertising stand-up
This is a 53" tall by 30" wide cardboard advertising stand-up
featuring Bugs Bunny. He stands with a carrot in his right hand, which is
bent akimbo on his hip, while he holds a promotional flier for discounted
admissions to the Six Flags over Mid-America amusement park in his raised left
hand. This item was manufactured for the 1985 park season and was given to
me as a gift by one of my previous students (Thanks, Erik!) for extra tutoring I
did. The item has some creasing on the tip of Bugs' ears and some
age-related wear, but is intact and generally in nice condition--probably EX to
EX+ overall.

BUGS BUNNY bicycle horn
This is a 6.75" plastic bicycle horn featuring the smiling face of
Bugs Bunny. It is in mint, unused condition and remains sealed inside of
its yellowed and slightly crinkled and damaged cellophane blisterpack.
This item was manufactured in 1989 by Rand International as part of a larger set
of Looney Tunes character bicycle horns.

BUGS BUNNY safety scissors
This is a 6.25" plastic safety scissors showing Bugs Bunny standing
cross-legged, holding red safety scissors of his very own in his right hand.
This item is in mint, unused condition and it remains sealed inside of its
original clear-plastic blisterpack and mounted on its original cardboard
mounting card. The mounting card has a nice image of Bugs Bunny chomping
on a carrot along with a photograph of a boy and a girl using their own safety
scissors to make paper dolls. This item was manufactured in 1974 by Nasta
Industries.

BUGS BUNNY camera
This is a 4.5" plastic camera showing Bugs Bunny resting his head on
his upwardly-bent right arm while he lounges in the grass. There is a
wooden signpost below his elbow saying Eh Doc, Smile! so that the child
looking into the camera when his or her picture is taken will follow
instructions. This item has a few small spots of minor paint loss and is
in near mint condition. It comes with its original instruction booklet
and, best of all, its original box, which has colorful graphics of this camera
and some children using their own Bugs Bunny camera. The box has some edge
wear but is intact and in VG condition. Bugs was manufactured in 1975 by
Helm Toy Corp.

BUGS BUNNY Plast-o-Plak
This uncommon find is a 7x5.25" clear-plastic molding set named
Plast-o-Plak by the manufacturer. It contains a raised-relief image of
Bugs Bunny crouching forward with a carrot in his right hand and his rabbit hole
behind him. The set contains a package of plaster casting mix and several
water color paint disks, along with a paint brush. It is in mint, unused
condition and remains mounted on its original colorful cardboard mounting card.
The cellophane blisterpack covering the plaster cast mix has a small hole and
the mounting card has some minor tearing and wear, but both are intact.
This item was manufactured along with a Sylvester counterpart in 1962 by Ableman
Enterprises and Fore-Sight Enterprises Inc.

BUGS BUNNY card game
This is a 3.5x2.25" package of 45 Bugs Bunny Card Game cards.
The title/instruction card is red in color with a smiling image of Bugs Bunny
looking over his right shoulder, with his left ear curved forward. The
game cards have very mod red-and-white 1960s/1970s-style drawings on the back.
This item is in mint, unused condition and it remains sealed inside of its
original shrinkwrap. It was manufactured in 1976 by Western Publishing
Company.

BUGS BUNNY Corgi car
This is a 1x2.75" die-cast metal rolling toy showing Bugs Bunny
driving an orange convertible dune buggy / racing car with a yellow rumble seat
and a yellow dashboard and steering wheel. Bugs is shown smiling as his
ears blow in the breeze behind him. The toy is in mint, unused condition
and it remains sealed inside of its original clear-plastic blisterpack and
mounted on its original VG condition cardboard mounting card. The mounting
card is orange-yellow in color and it has a large image of a cross-legged Bugs
Bunny chomping on a carrot as he leans against a wall. This toy was
manufactured in 1966 by Mettoy Company Ltd. as part of the Corgi cars series.

BUGS BUNNY Brain Buster
This is a 5.25x3.25" plastic Bugs Bunny Brain Buster toy, shaped like
a red plastic calculator with white buttons. What it really is, however,
is a slide puzzle that comes with a challenge book that gives the user numerous
puzzle solutions for which to strive while playing with the slide puzzle.
The puzzle itself has an image of Bugs from the torso upward, holding a carrot
with his left hand while holding his right arm in the air. This item is in
mint, unused condition and it remains sealed inside of its original
clear-plastic blisterpack and mounted on its original (and now bent) cardboard
mounting card. The mounting card has colorful graphics of Bugs Bunny,
Elmer Fudd, and the Road Runner. This toy was manufactured by Gordy
International in 1976.

BUGS BUNNY scented key chain
No
collection would be complete without a scented key chain (or at least, mine
wouldn't be)! This one is a 4" pliable vinyl key chain showing Bugs
Bunny's broadly-smiling face against a red round backdrop that resembles the
Looney Tunes tunnel. This item is in mint, unused condition and it remains
sealed inside of its original packaging. It was manufactured by
Plasticolor Molded Products Inc. along with a Tweety counterpart. Although
its year of production is not indicated on the item or its packaging, this item
probably dates to the 1980s. And yes, all these years later, it still
retains its perfume scent, which can be detected through the packaging.

BUGS BUNNY Bistro set
This rare find is a Bugs Bunny Bistro set, consisting of 36 Bugs Bunny cocktail
napkins and 24 Porky Pig cardboard cocktail coasters. The napkins show
Bugs Bunny sweating and wearing a yellow towel with a blue band around his neck
and shoulders, as if he is at the barber shop and worried about his hair cut (or
should that be hare cut?). The coasters show Porky Pig sitting on the top
of a cocktail glass, standing in front of a Free Parking sign, and holding a
huge cocktail glass. These items are in virtually perfect condition and,
best of all, they come in their original box. The box has some corner and
edge tears and wear, but it is intact and has nice graphics on the cover showing
Bugs Bunny wearing a waiter's apron. This item was manufactured by
Goodmark of Hollywood sometime during the 1940s.

BUGS BUNNY harmonica
This is a 7.75" plastic toy harmonica that is yellow and white in
color. It was named the Bugs Bunny Giant Duo-Tone Harmonica by the

It is in mint, unused condition and remains sealed inside of its original
clear-plastic blisterpack and mounted on its original cardboard mounting card.
The mounting card is orange with a blue border and it has colorful graphics of
Porky Pig stuttering a greeting to us (H-H-H-Hi Folks!) and Bugs Bunny
telling us that the harmonica has 20 Holes 40 Reeds.

BUGS BUNNY Rexall Magazine
This rare find is an April 1947 issue of The Rexall Magazine, which
advertises the latest goings-on at the local drug store. The cover shows
Bugs Bunny popping out of an Easter egg while he tickles a rooster's beak.
The caption beneath the two of them says Happy Easter to everybody and happy
birthday to Bugs Bunny. Inside the magazine, along with an article
focusing on house cleaning needs, a fiction story about a wrong number, a
fashion story, and egg recipes, there is a nicely illustrated series of comic
captions explaining How Warner Brothers Cartoons Are Made. This
item is in EX+ condition, downgraded mostly due to age-related yellowing.
Regardless of that, it is a genuinely nifty find!

This rare find is a 5.5x6.75" coloring book entitled Bugs Bunny and His
Pals. The cover is orange, yellow, and off-white in color, and it
shows Bugs Bunny tickling Baby Bear while an angry-looking Papa Bear leers at
him from behind. This item is unused and in nearly perfect condition,
other than some age-related yellowing of the pages. It was manufactured in
1957 by Whitman Publishing as part of a larger set of Looney Tunes coloring
books.

The comic book's title appears in orange lettering on the backpack: Bugs
Bunny Goes Hiking. This item is in virtually perfect condition other
than some age-related yellowing.

startled with his pop gun in hand as a lion greets him amidst the shrubbery.
Four of the interior pages were colored very neatly by Bugs' previous owner,
leaving this item in EX condition.
