PORKY PIG & BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) talking toy
This uncommon find
is a 1949 talking metal (probably tin) toy of Porky Pig and Bugs Bunny, who are
shown standing side-by-side. Porky stands with his hands behind his back,
looking in Bugs' direction while Bugs stands with a partly-eaten carrot in his
right hand, below his chin, and an armful of carrots in his left arm. The
toy, which is 10.25" tall, has a red base with a crank handle that, when
turned, is supposed to enable it to talk by playing a miniature record player
that is inside of the base. The original record and playing mechanisms are
all present, but the toy no longer works due to warping of the record.
This item was manufactured in 1949 by the Talking Toy Company of America and it
was sold alongside separate Porky and Bugs stand-up figures as well. There
is a 3/8" wear mark on the base in front of Bugs' feet, and some very small
light surface marks on the litho here and there, but overall, the toy is in very
nice displayable condition. Other than its not working, the piece is in EX
to EX+ condition.

PORKY PIG & PETUNIA PIG (Warner Brothers) pull toy
This is a 7.5"
wooden pull toy showing Porky Pig and Petunia Pig riding horses. Porky
rides his horse straddled, like a man; Petunia rides hers side-saddle, like
women used to be taught to ride. The toy is complete and all original,
including the original bell on the side by Petunia, the red wheels, and the
original pull string. This item was manufactured by Brice during the later
1940s, and was sold along with other Looney Tunes character wooden pull
toys. Porky and Petunia are in Fair condition (C5 or so) overall, with
crinkling on the paper litho and edge wear on the litho. As the photograph
accompanying this description shows, Petunia also has lost some of the paper on
one side of her image, on the top of her head. Even with this wear and
litho loss, this remains a nice, colorful, vintage item.
