BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) composition bank

b0800070.JPG (14468 bytes)  During the early 1970s, Holiday Fair manufactured several VERY funky Looney Tunes cartoon character items, including sets of bookends, staplers, banks, musicals, jewelry boxes, pencil sharpeners, and pencil holders.  The items in this series are distinguishable by virtue of the unusual and brilliant colors used to depict the characters.  (Where else have you seen a neon pink Pepe LePew or a bright orange and pink Daffy Duck?!)   This is the Bugs Bunny bank from the company, made of composition.  Bugs is bright light blue in color and is shown chomping on a neon-orange carrot as he waves with his left hand.  The coin slot is located behind his shoulders; the generic black rubber stopper is no longer present on the underside of the bank.  This item has one crack in the paint (NOT in the composition, just in the paint) behind the lower portion of Bugs' ears.  It has minor paint loss elsewhere on the item and the decal for Bugs Bunny's name remains intact and complete on his stomach.  Overall, this item is in EX to EX+ condition--quite nice for one of Holiday Fair's less-commonly-found items.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) glow-in-the-dark picture

  This lovely item is an 11x9" picture showing Bugs Bunny happily and casually leaning against a white tree with grey and red striped accents.  When this item is exposed to bright light and then placed in a darkened room, the outlines glow in the dark.  The item was manufactured sometime during the 1940s and, all these years later, the glow-in-the-dark feature still works!  The picture comes in its original frame, but the glass protective front is no longer present.  The brown paper lining the back of the frame is brittle and chipping off, but the picture itself is in nearly perfect condition.  There is no indication anywhere on this item as to who made it.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) yellow plastic figure

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) battery-operated pencil sharpener

  This item was manufactured by Janex during the mid-1970s as part of a larger set of children's desktop items.  It is a plastic battery-operated pencil sharpener that says "Eh, sharpen up, Doc!" on the front of the base.  Bugs is shown sitting on his haunches, chomping away at a carrot, and sitting in front of a green cylinder that is supposed to contain an orange cylinder (resembling an oversized carrot) where the pencil could be inserted for sharpening.  Unfortunately, this cylinder is missing, as is the cover for the battery compartment on the bottom of the item.  As a functioning pencil sharpener, this item doesn't "cut it."  As a figural display piece, though, Bugs still looks nice and himself shows only minor signs of wear.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) desk organizer

  During the mid-1970s (1975 in this specific instance), Janex manufactured a number of desktop items for children, each featuring Bugs Bunny.  Among other items, this set included a stapler, a pencil sharpener, a lamp, and this 5.5" tall plastic desk organizer.  Bugs is shown lying against a hollow log with his legs crossed at the knee, head resting against his left arm, and holding his trademark partially-eaten carrot in his right hand.  In front of him are two yellow cubes (for the date) and two orange cubes (for the month and day of the week).  The top of the tree stump is hollow and can be used to store pens and pencils.  This item is complete, which is unusual since the date cubes are usually absent, and free of damage.  There are a few very small spots of minor paint wear, but overall, this item is in near mint condition.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) gumball machine

  This Bugs Bunny plastic gumball machine was manufactured in 1988 by Processed Plastic Company.   It was sold along with a Road Runner / Wile E Coyote gumball machine and a Tasmanian Devil gumball machine.  Bugs is 9.25" tall and is shown standing with his legs crossed at the knee, arms folded in front of him, as he holds his partially-eaten carrot in his left hand.  Bugs has no paint loss anywhere on him and the gumball globe shows only very minor signs of faint wear from use.  "69" is written on the underside of the bank in small, black marker.  This is not visible except when the item is turned upside-down, and it is the gumball machine's only flaw.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) PVC figure -- magician

  Abra-da-carrot?  Possibly so, actually, since this 3.75" PVC figure shows Bugs Bunny as a magician pulling a bunch of carrots out of his black top hat.   Bugs wears a red bowtie, a black tuxedo jacket with blue lapels, and a white shirt.  He was manufactured in 1990 by Applause as part of a larger collection of Looney Tunes cartoon character figures.  Bugs has no damage but he does have one very small spot of paint loss, leaving him in NM+ condition.

COST = $4.50           BOXED WEIGHT: <2 POUNDS           ITEM NUMBER = 0602097

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) ceramic planter -- hollow log

  This is a 7" tall heavy ceramic planter of Bugs Bunny, who is shown standing with his left arm bent and resting against his thigh, his right hand resting against his chest, and his knees slightly bent as he rests against a hollow log.  The log is the planter.   This item was manufactured during the 1950s as part of a set of five items (Bugs on a pedestal, Bugs with a wheelbarrow planter, Bugs with a tall tree stump vase, and Bugs by a tree stump planter), a few other of which we also have in stock at this time.  This item has no damage anywhere on it--no chips, no cracks, no repairs, and no paint wear.   It has light to moderate crazing on it, but given the item's coloring and the locations of the crazed areas, this is not noticeable except when the item is examined closely.  Due to the crazing, we'll downgrade the item to NM- to NM condition because were it not for that, the item would be in mint condition.

COST = $55           BOXED WEIGHT: <2 POUNDS          ITEM NUMBER = 0999025

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) jointed vinyl Uncle Sam figure

COST = $27           BOXED WEIGHT: <2 POUNDS           ITEM NUMBER = 1298047

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) squeak toy and box

  Here, what we have are two parts of a very nice, vintage-era item.  It consists of a hardened, collapsed latex 6" squeak toy showing Bugs Bunny waving with his right hand as he chomps on a carrot with his left hand.  Mostly, though, collectors would want this item because of the presence of its original triangular-shaped box.  The box has fantastic graphics showing a variety of different, fun images of Bugs Bunny on the front and both back sides.  This item was manufactured by Oak Rubber sometime during the later 1940s or earlier 1950s.  The Bugs squeak toy is in Fair condition, downgraded due to the age-related condition of the rubber/latex.  The box has some wear, mostly on the top, but is intact and in much nicer condition--probably EX to EX+ overall.

COST = $50           BOXED WEIGHT: <2 POUNDS           ITEM NUMBER = 0206002

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) chalk bank

  This beautiful item is a 16" chalk bank of Bugs Bunny, who is shown sitting on his haunches, leaning against a tree, with a carrot in his left hand.  The bank's coin slot is located on the upper portion of the tree, and there is a cork stopper blocking the lower portion of the item, to keep coins inside of it.  This is a fully-licensed Warner Brothers item, with both the copyright and Bugs' name incised on the base.  Although there is no indication anywhere on this item as to who made it or when it was manufactured, in all likelihood, this is a 1940s or 1950s piece.  There is some paint wear on Bugs' carrot, but the rest of his paint is quite nice.  He has three surface chips:  one on his forelock, and one on each of his side "whiskers" (the latter two are shown in the photograph accompanying this description).  Overall, Bugs is in VG condition--pretty nice for a vintage-era, fragile item like this!  Underneath the base, the original price sticker is even present, showing that Bugs originally sold for a mere $1.99 at Grand-Way.

  During the late 1980s, Arby's fast food restaurants released a series of Looney Tunes PVC figurines distinctive by their thick legs.  This is the Bugs Bunny from that set.   (We've got others from this set in stock at present, too.)  The figurine stands 3" tall and was manufactured in 1988.  It is in NM+ condition, with only a few very small spots of paint loss.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) jointed vinyl figure

  This is an 11.25" jointed vinyl figure of Bugs Bunny, who has movable arms and a swiveling head.  Although Bugs stands just fine on his own, he does lean forward and a bit toward his left side for some reason.  He was manufactured in 1990 but his copyright information does not indicate who made him.  This item is free of damage although it does have some small surface marks on the back of Bugs' head and ears and a small spot of minor paint loss on his cottontail.  Overall, he is in NM- condition.

BUGS BUNNY (Warner Brothers) Santa nodder

  This fun item is a 6.5" heavy-duty resin nodder showing Bugs Bunny wearing a cloth Santa Claus hat.  He holds a partly-eaten carrot in his right hand and holds his left arm akimbo on the hip.  This item is in mint condition and it comes with its colorful original box, showing several of the Looney Tunes characters clad in Christmas attire.  This item was manufactured in 1995 along with Sylvester and Tweety counterparts, and it was sold exclusively in the now-defunct Warner Brothers Studio Stores.
